A wonderful and rare find! This long textile was once used as a quilted bed valance on a 4 poster bed ~ it\'s French and dates c1860 ! SO long!! 16.5 feet long! ~ Wonderful, trimmed scalloped edges ~ This piece uses a beautiful roller printed madder brown floral with glorious picotage design! The backing is a GORGEOUS, small scale geometric printed cotton, also printed using the root of the madder plant. The small scale return backing fabric has a purple ground ( sienna purple) with white and madder rusty red. The front fabric is wonderful ~ The tone of the red is a lovely rich, rusty red and the picotage and outline are the wonderful dark dark sienna purple madder tones ~ the ground tone is a lovely aged off-white with slightly gray tone! ~ it\'s 100% hand stitched and hand quilted ~ The top of this textile has the original linen tape and a linen string for hanging. Along the top edge there are tiny holes surrounded by rust , where this textile once was tacked into place on the bed ~*~ A GLORIOUS textile , ideal for use as a bed valance , curtain valances etc ~*~ ( please see my other textile for matching pieces to the set) A wonderful and rare find indeed ~*~ Ideal for any period interior ~*~ (Valance 82)) Measurements: This wonderful panel measures :198 inches long by 23 inches wide ( drop) at the widest point of the scallop ~*~ CONDITION : This textile is in as found, not freshly laundered condition , with storage dust. There are some very small holes in this large panel to be expected, but generally , is in stunning condition! Quite remarkable actually! There are small water marks in places and it\'s gently and slightly unevenly faded in places ~ again, glorious condition for it\'s age, but not perfect ~~ ~*~ ~*~ ~
