RORSTRAND RARE Hertha Bengtson Handled Bowl - Leaf Design

On offer is this rare one-handled shallow bowl (hanterad skål)designed by the celebrated ceramicist Hertha Bengtson, who was employed bySweden’s Rörstrand factory from 1941 until 1964.

Produced in the late 1940s, this deep blue pieceof art pottery is shaped like a shallow, concave leaf, whose interior hassymmetrical “veins” emanating from the midrib of the leaf’s design. This striking bowl is approximately 10 inchesin length (25.5 cm) , and about 5 ¾ wide at its broadest point (14.5 cm). This is anabsolutely terrific find for serious Rörstrand collectors!

(Note: Because of the sweeping, amorphous design of this item, some measurements are approximated.)

Condition Report:

This bowl is in excellent vintage condition.

The interiorand exterior glaze is deep and vibrant. Under oblique lighting, there are some visiblescratches on both sides of the bowl, but nothing unexpected on a piece fromthis period. There are a few “glaze pops”along the rim and on the display side of the piece. On the underside, the whiteunglazed footring has become gently discolored over time. Here, the bowl is also stamped with HerthaBengtson’s initials as well as the easily recognizable Rörstrand “three crown”logo, present on many of the factory’s mid-century art pottery pieces.

Please refer to all furnished photographs in this listing,as they form an integral, supplemental part of the description. I try to “over describe” my items, pointingout any irregularities that a buyer of vintage goods might findobjectionable. I am certainly happy toprovide additional photography upon request.

Shipping:

The listed shipping is for buyers in the contiguous UnitedStates. If you reside in Alaska orHawaii, please contact me for a shipping quote. My sales are currently closed to international customers, but if you resideoutside the US and are interested in offerding, please reach out to me. (Please understand that I am not responsiblefor any duties or delays imposed by Customs in your country, and I cannotdeclare any items shipped to you for less than their sale price.)

Since I am a new seller, for sale lots with more than oneitem, I may use an outside packing service in order to help ensure that yourpurchase arrives damage-free. Fragilecollectibles will be double-boxed where appropriate and practical.

Return Policy:

As a longtime buyer of vintage pottery, I understand thatdisappointments sometimes happen. Termslike “excellent” and “near mint” are subjective, meaning wildly differentthings to different people. And it canbe difficult to agree on when “wear and tear consistent with age” has venturedinto the territory of actual damage.Rather than quibble, if youare dissatisfied with any item that you purchase from me, for any reason, simply return it to me within 14 days in the condition in which it was sent, and I will happily refund your money. Iwill pay for return shipping costs, but regrettably, I cannot refund outboundshipping and handling fees in such cases.Of course, should an item sustain any damage during transit, you will receive a complete refund. (In the eventthat a multi-item shipment sustains only partial damage, please contact me sothat we can work out a satisfactory solution.)All I ask in return is that you document any damage, retain all packingmaterials, and assist me during the claims process.

In my experience, the best transactions are ones where thereis open, honest communication on both sides. My goal is to find happy homes for these treasures, with the hope thatthey will bring their new owners as much joy as they’ve brought me.

About Me:

I have been an avid Blue Fire (Blå Eld) and Koka Blue(Koka Blå) collector for almost 20 years. I own over 400 pieces in each line, so if youare hunting for something in particular, please reach out to me – there’s agood chance that I have what you’re looking for. I absolutely love chatting with otherRorstrand enthusiasts!

Finally, don’t be afraid to ask questions. I’d rather be deluged with questions than tohave my buyers experience one drop of regret with any item that I sell.
