Takumi Kuroiwa. - Mino Area Japanese Large Bowl Bowl - Signed -Condition - no chips cracks or repairs - ( in photos bottom shows rough carved edges) hand built - Purchased by me in NYC at Gallery Gen in 2006- painted figures w/ gold accents
Kuroiwa is trained in the Oribe tradition of Mino ceramics but is strongly influenced by Chinese multi-colored over glaze enamel decoration. His pieces are often covered in white slip under the glaze & then decorated with red, green & blue enamel over the glaze. The design inside the bowl features a bird and flower designs. The bowl is signed inside the foot with the hiragana characters “Taku”.The piece measures 13 in diameter & 4 1/2 in height.
