I own an advertising specialty company - now in our 45th year I am happy to report - and worked in the industry for many years prior to establishing my own firm. For many years my best client was what was formerly known as \"The Bell System\". Of course after Judge Green\'s ruling, divestiture occurred and it was later broken up into what was generally called the \"Baby Bells\" - and later morphed into many variations.

So over the years we worked very closely with Western Electric, AT&T, Southern Bell, Bellsouth, Lucent Technologies, OFS, Avaya, etc. I collected many over-run samples, one-or-a-kind spec samples, and the likes. I am now selling much of that collection via .
I have been searching through old samples and over-runs of orders I sold to various Bell System entities. And I do have many such samples.
Southern Bell was among our best clients back in the day. Here is an interesting over-run sample custom mug from an order we sold Southern Bell in the 1970\'s.
Details:
In the 1970\'s Southern Bell\'s Directory Assistance was a profitable area for the company. Many workers were needed to fulfill these duties, and attendance very important. We provided a wide variety of gifts as incentives for perfect attendance. S.B. almost made it akin to inspiring perfect attendance in high school.
One such program gift was this interesting coffee mug. The mug itself is in white porcelain, 12 ounce capacity and a full three finger \"C\" handle design.
Affixed to the front when used by a right handed individual, there is a custom cast 3-D medal medallion. The medallion is in pewter, and contains information regarding the award. In the center there is a blank raised area. It was in that spot that we individually engraved the number of years perfect attendance. The pewter emblem was custom cast and \"dapped\" to fit the mug. Dapping means that it was shaped to a specified curvature.
Both the mug and pewter medallion were made in the U.S.A.
Although this mug is now probably close to 50 years old, it has never been used and in as new condition! For all of these years it has been kept in a sealed container in one of our several climate controlled sample rooms.
It will be very well packaged to insure safe delivery.
What a find, and in NEW condition!!!
