From the estate of French actress Lilo de la Passardiere: A signed 1956 postcard from Maurice Chevalier (French actor, singer, entertainer). The postcard is written in French and sent by Chevlier while in Canada to Lilo in NYC at Hotel Pierre. Two 4c Canadian stamps are still attached. The front of the postcard features a Canadian Mountie. Measures 3.5" x 5.5". Good vintage condition - see photos. About Lilo: Lilo was born in Dortmund, Germany in 1921 as Liselotte Johanna Lewin, In 1953, she played the lead role in the musical Can-Can at the Shubert Theatre, NYC. She was known for singing "C'est Magnifique" and "I Love Paris", written by Cole Porter.Maurice Auguste Chevalier (French: [moʁis ʃəvalje]; 12 September 1888 – 1 January 1972) was a French singer, actor and entertainer.[3] He is perhaps best known for his signature songs, including "Livin' In The Sunlight", "Valentine", "Louise", "Mimi", and "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" and for his films, including The Love Parade, The Big Pond, The Smiling Lieutenant, One Hour with You and Love Me Tonight.
