Designed by Philippe Starck (French, 1949) for Italian design company Alessi. The Hot Bertaa Kettle is a design icon. With a conical shape made of stainless steel (synonymous with other Starck designs) and a polyamide plastic handle, these elements come together to create a “form over function” sculptural stovetop kettle. This kettle was only in production from 1990-1996 due to a high volume of controversy regarding its design, even prompting Alberto Alessi to openly call it their “most beautiful fiasco\".
