A RARE and original 1943 "Order Coal Now: Keep Warm Next Winter" WW2 poster distributed by the US Government during the peak of the war. The bottom right corner of the poster has printed "The US Coal consumers council, Washington D.C." and the bottom center says "US Government Printing Office 1943-O-525962" This poster almost never comes up for sale! This is your chance to own an important piece of American wartime history.
Ask anyone who lived through WWII on the American "home front" about their experience, and the conversation will quickly turn to rationing. America had always been a land of abundance, but as soon as the U.S. entered the war in the winter of 1941-42 fuel shortages began. By 1943, it had become every citizen's duty to cut back on meat, sugar, coffee, canned foods, fuel, shoes, and consumer goods. This poster encourages the everyday citizen to plan out their fuel purchases to prevent a rush when winter hits.
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. Measures approximately 22” x 28”.Some small holes at the top crease. Some yellowing/discoloration to poster. Chips around the edge. .25” rip at center seam. Please review all images and ask any and all questions you have! Originally stored folded into eighths, and will be shipped as such (as seen in last picture). I used a document scanner for the first image, the following images are what the poster looks like with the lighting on my iphone. There is some ink bleeding (above the word 'order', from when the bottom of the poster was folded against the top of the poster.
