Italy: Commemorative Medal of the Fascist Campaign 1919-1922. Unofficialbronze medal created by Mussolini’s fascist party in 1923 and awarded to those whoparticipated in the movement from its foundation in 1919, to the seizure ofpower in 1922. Notwithstanding its non-official status, it was permitted to beworn on military uniforms until 1943. Dated silver, or silvered bronze, bars wereauthorized for wear on the ribbon denoting the wearer’s years of participation.These bars were the same silver bars used on the Italian Medal for Libia (see Brambilla,Alessandro; Le Medaglie Italliane Negli Ultimi200 Anni, Vol. 2 1901-1996 (1997) p. 638). The medal is in extremely finecondition, on original/old ribbon with fork suspension. The bars aresilver-gilt bronze, with most of the silver gilt gone; the medal is scarce withoriginal bars.
