Created by royal decree on June 6, 1940, the bronze medal was intended for members of the Italian army, air force and navy that participated in the Spanish Civil War 1936-1939 for a minimum of three months. The medal was never officially issued, and therefore made and purchased privately (see Bini, Dimitri.Official Military and Civilian Medals of the Kingdom of Italy (2008) p.189).This medal has been widely copied; this is an original medal, marked "M" (for the engraver, Emilio Monti) on the reverse at the 5 o'clock position.The medal is in near extremely fine condition, with most of the gold gilt gone; on a correct replacement ribbon.Authenticityguaranteed; 14-day return privilege (30 days overseas), excluding postage,provided item is returned in same condition when sold.
