Federal Civil War Cap Box: $75.00
FEDERAL CIVIL WAR CAP BOX. Entire box has appealing smooth, black glossy surface; some minor nicks and scratches consistent with age and use, but virtually no finish loss. Part of latch tap torn off and is missing. Both riveted belt loops undamaged and firmly attached. The two small \"ears\" sewn to inner flap are intact. The front flap is square, and curiously has notches neatly cut out at the corners. (Just a guess, but perhaps done to fix a problem with the corners curling up during use.) The leather of the cap box (even the strap loops) is incredibly STIFF.I can safely flex the front flap open only slightly (less than 1/2\"). I don\'t want to risk damage to the front flap by trying to open it further. I can see that the inner flap is present, but don\'t know if it has any maker\'s marking. Perhaps the leather could be treated to make it more flexible, but I\'ll leave that to the new owner. Please inspect photos carefully.
