Pictorial Arrowhead - 2nd Marine Division FMF Occupation of Japan Pictorial Book. You’ll receive this piece of history from the World War II era: A pictorial record of the 2nd Marine Division in Japan during the Occupation. The book, bound with the original ribbon-rope, opens with photos, starting with Maj. Gen. LeRoy P. Hunt USMC (of Guadalcanal Campaign, Commanding General of 2nd Marine Division FMF) and including a comparison: Where we would have hit D-Day 1 November 1945 and then Where we did hit, 23 September 1945. There are topographical, non-topographical, and people photos. Hundreds of images of the division landing in 1945, setting up, discovering Japanese weapons and munitions, repatriation operations, evaluating the devastation in Nagasaki, restaurants and food, and Marines’ interactions with Japanese people and learning about the culture in peacetime.

The images, printed on a newsprint-type paper, vary widely in quality, from good to fair to poor, but this is an important historical record of the Occupation immediately after the war. Softcover, 10 1/4 inches x 15 inches with 40 single sided pages. This 77-year-old book is in fair condition with some cover wear, minor folds, and tears; some age stains, but all pages are intact. Please look carefully at various photos.
