Thisis a D.R.L. Sports Badges pre-1937, First Class Badge in Gold(Reichssportabzeichen DRL vor 1937 ohne Hakenkreuz in Gold). ThisD.R.L. badge is a gold grade, pre-1937 version, constructed of gildedbronze. The obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreathed, tiedtogether at the bottom by a bow-tie ribbon, with central initials\"DRL.\" The reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-stylepin-back meeting a flat wire catch and the reverse is also unmarked. The badge measures 39.47 mm (w) x 48.23 mm (h), in better than veryfine condition. Thesepre-1937 badges are difficult to find and much rarer than thepost-1937 with the swastika. It took me several years to collect all three grades. I purchased itin 2004 from a dealer in Hamburg, Germany. \"Forman\'s Guide to TRGerman Awards & Documents, Volume 2\" currently values thisD.R.L. Sports Badge at $250.00 (page 445).
