The photo of Gordon is just to provide a depiction of General Gordon. I had originally framed the postcard with that picture.

I am selling a signed postcard of one of the greatest commanders of the American Civil War. Gordon was an attorney before the war with no military training or military experience but proved to be a natural fighter and leader, and also one of Robert E. Lee's favorites. He began the war as a Alabama Captain, soon became the colonel of his regiment, the 6th Alabama. He caught the attention of Robert E. Lee for his bravery and abilities and by war's end had attained the rank of Major General. John B Gordon was wounded six times, including five times at Antietam where he refused to leave the field ( the fifth was in the head and knocked him unconscious) He also lead the last charge of the Army of Northern Virginia, He was one of the bravest and most successful generals on either side. After the war he served two terms as a Georgia State Senator, and two terms as the 53rd Governor of Georgia.

This is a nice post war postcard , written entirely in the hand of John B. Gordon to another ex Confederate General Dabney H. Maury. It is from the early 1880s and has some very interesting post stamps.
