C.P.F. is believed to stand for Colossus Pipe Factory. There is not much known about the company until the mid 1890\'s when it was acquired by Kaufmann Bros. & Bondy (located in NYC). They continued the C.P.F. brand until sometime around 1910-1920. C.P.F. made beautiful pipes, and it has been asserted that the carvers who made these pipes were most likely of European training and used classic shapes as well as aged briar. This pipe is a survivor of a lost era and a true collector\'s item. The original case has survived along with it, but the Amberoid stem is broken. Amberoid is a pre-curser to Bakelite and is brittle, and prone to breakage. It is included only if someone would try to repair or replace it similarly.

The removable rim cap and the band on the shank appear to a plated gold, but there is no stamping to verify. It was common for C.P.F. to use fine metals in their embellishments. The shank is stamped with the oval logo and underneath it, \"Best Make\". The case also shows the logo and lets you know that it made of French briar.

I have cleaned and polished all pieces very meticulously, and it is gleaming. Please review the detailed photos carefully.
