Antique carved Meerschaum pipe by the Colossus Pipe Factory with the original fitted case. Colossus was established in the 1850’s and closed by 1915. The pipe is used but in great condition for its age in my opinion. I find no chips or cracks in the body of the pipe, although there are some chips and bite marks in the stem as show in the pictures. The threads are in good shape.You have to use the center piece of the pipe to adjust and tighten the stem to the position you desire. The case, again for itsage is in good shape, there is wear and some fraying. The wood under the material is showing in a couple of places. The hinges and latch work very well. The pipe is aprox 8” long x just under 2 1/4” wide at its widest point and it stands 3” tall. The bowl is approx.,1 3/4” deep x approx. 13/16 inside dia.
