My husband Jerry used his Lapidary skills and tools to cut and polish this from a rough state. 

\'Turtleback\' is a rare form of Malachite.

Malachite is mostly a hydrous copper carbonate compound. It is the Copper in it that gives the stone its green color!  It is a copper carbonate Hydroxide mineral w/ 57.48% copper (in its purest state).

Malachite itself is considered a rare gemstone in that the original deposits for the stones have been depleted leaving behind few sources.

Malachite measures 3.5-4 mohs hardness scale.

This malachite is specifically sourced from Bisbee Arizona.
