This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Jacob Brotherton patent, dated September 03, 1878. This wire is called \"Brotherton\'s Two Point Coil Wrapped Barb on Grooved Lines\" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier Listing Not Found). This wire features two twisted together round line wires. Both Line wires are grooved, one much more definite than the other. Barbs are two pointed made from a round barbing wire. One point of barbing wire is inserted between the lines, and remainder is wrapped in a coil fashion around both lines. Wire sample shows light pitting. There are four barbs. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. There is some bending of barbing points.
