This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Jacob Brotherton patent, dated September 3, 1878. This wire is called \"Brotherton\'s Two Point on Tight Twisted Lines with a Crossed Over Line\" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier No.257-B - VARIATION)(Hagemeier does not show the tight twist or the line wires crossing over the barbing wire.). This wire features two twisted together round line wires. Barbs are two pointed made from round barbing wire. One barbing point is placed between line wires, and remaining barbing wire is wrapped around both line wires. Line wires are tightly twisted and cross each other under wraps of barbing wires. Sample is 18\" in length and has six barbs. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Sample shows light pitting. Barbs show light bending, with no broken or missing points.
