Antique Creche Santo Doll Madonna Of Sorrows w/ Glass Eyes Embroidered Vestment:

Antique Creche doll santo representing the Madonna with glass eyes. The embroidered vestments appear to be original. I believe it was originally black that has faded in time; majority of the embroidery is intact with some deterioration especially on the back. She wears a removable brass crown with coloured rhinestones all around it, held on by a nail on top of its head. I was told the head and hands are made from terracotta while the body is made out of wood and stiffened cloth; seems stable but unsure of the full condition of it as the clothes are sewn on her. She is kneeling on a wooden base that is also not removable. Minor paint rubbing/chips on the face and hands, generalized paint chipping on the base. The black veil is contemporary.

The figure is approx 11” high in kneeling position on its own, or 16” tall from the crown to the base.
