1966 USN HATRON TWO Squadron Zippo Penguin Lighter with Inscriptions, ID’d

This is an original vintage Penguin lighter from a Naval Aviator named I.B. Holt Jr.

From the lighters and buckles of this man,I believe he was in VF-143 (the USNR squadron that existed under that name from 1953-1962) and HATRON TWO and flew off the USS Coral Sea at some point. One of the lighters is inscribed with LCDR for his rank, so he was at least an O-4. I couldn’t find him in any searches on the internet, maybe you’ll have better luck.

This lighter has a lot of inscriptions from Holt’s squadron on it. One dates it to 1966 on the hinge side of the body. I think the full date is 1/12/66. Holt is ID’d on it as a Lt Commander. The aircraft on the lighter is an A-3B Skywarrior. From the messages that accompany the autographs, I think this is an end of tour gift since there are a lot of that sort of message. The lighter is in very good condition
