All rights reserved.In the last Brooklands meet of 1938, run on the old Mountain Circuit, was hailed as one of the best ever held. Raymond Mays and his supercharged 2-litre ERA led from the start and ran away with the 12-mile Mountain Championship event to win by 12 seconds, at an average speed of 80.39 mph. Also in the hunt were Staniland\'s Multi-Union, powered by a supercharged 2,946cc Alfa Romeo engine, and running a close third, Dobson\'s supercharged 1,488cc ERA. PLEASE NOTE: Any appearance of bowing is due to distortion from the camera—the print is perfectly straight and square.Crosby\'s painting captures the ERA in uncanny detail, and illustrates the sheer grunt required to navigate the steeply banked Brooklands Mountain Circuit. As published in the 1978 edition of the book, The Art of Gordon Crosby, beautifully rendered on a smooth, satin-finished stock. Would look beautiful framed. Print is in gorgeous, mint condition.
