THE LAST PRECIOUS FEW PIPES After listing my pipe collection on , it’s time to part with the favorites - my Ashtons by Bill Taylor, my Ferndowns by Les Wood, and a few other high end pieces. Any of these that don’t sell, I will gladly keep.
A Beautiful Refurbished Ashton (Bill "Ashton" Taylor Era, circa 1990) Pebble Grain XXX Billiard, with a professional shank crack repair, and the use of a Sterling Silver Band and the original Stem. Pipe is ready to give a lifetime of smoking, still perfectly balanced.
Bill "Ashton" Taylor (1944-2009) was a renowned pipe-maker at Dunhill, opening his own business in the early 1980s. He was soon granted a patent for making pipes 15% lighter by heating and oil curing and giving his pipes a distinctive "nutty" flavor.
The briar of this 360° Ring Grain Straight Billiard is a deep red/brown stained, evenly carved and sand blasted to a rustic finish (from oil cured fine Briar.) Its only defect, which is repaired and undetectable now, was small crack at the end of the shank.
It has the original Ebonite Stem, with the Ashton briar dot. And the rest of the pipe is perfect. Repair is undetectable.
The pipe was fully sanitized to make the it ready to smoke as soon as you receive it, before the pipe was lightly polished. The pipe draws and will smoke perfectly, and is ready for a lifetime of enjoyable smoking.
