vintage try square w/ 10-1/2\" blade & dovetailed brass facing trim & long handle:

You are offerding on one try square as pictured.

It is marked with the large \"J H\" on the wood handle, and some faint initials perhaps \"WH\" on both of the rectangular escutcheons. It appears to be quite old.

Blade length is about 10-1/2\", measured from the far end of the blade to the near side of the handle. It is not graduated.

The handle has the two dovetailed brass pieces that face the blade, and the rectangular and diamond shaped escutcheons where the handle is joined to the blade. The rivets that hold each pair of escutcheons are steel.

Condition of the handle is good but shows a lot of wear with lots of scratches and chips, plus the larger chip next to the upper dovetailed brass facing, and the very large chip or cutout between the two dovetailed pieces. The blade has areas with quite a bit of pitting, with the majority on the side shown in the second picture. The blade is slightly bowed or kinked out towards the far endifyou sight down the upper edge.

USPS POSTAGE RATE INCREASES: I use the Post Office for everything, and yes, the shipping charges just keep going up and up. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it\'s not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20\" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30\" long, because those longer packages won\'t fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights.I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.

SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including . If I ship to a state where is required to collect sales tax, will charge you the sales tax for your location.There is lots of information available from that explains it in much more detail.
