You are offerding on one showy and large ram\'s horn style wood scraper plane as pictured. There are some missing pieces and condition issues, so please keep reading.

It is unmarked.

It consists of the ram\'s horn wood body and a heavy cast iron piece with a tapered slot to hold the blade and the wedge, but both the blade and the wedge are missing.

There are two 1/4-20 nuts buried inside the ram\'s horn body, with the little rectangular dutchmen in the top of the handle showing where they were dropped inside. There are also the round dutchmen on the other side of the body where the holes were drilled all the way through and then plugged. Those nuts can move around a bit inside the body.

This came to me with two machine screws to hold the base. One might be original, and is the one shown in the picture. The threads are quite worn on it, and it will want to be replaced. The other screw didn\'t even have the same threads, and was a flat head screw which isn\'t the right shape, so I discarded it. The length of that screw from the underside of the head to the tip is 2-1/8\", but you might want to start with 2-1/4\" screws.

I ran a 1/4-20 tap down into both of the nuts inside the body, and it threaded into both nuts easily.

The overall length from the end of one handle to the end of the other handle is about 12-5/16\", and overall height in the middle is about 2-1/2\".

The body without the cast iron base weighs 1 pound 2.2 ounces on my postal scale, and the cast iron base by itself weighs 1 pound 8.9 ounces.

Again, both the blade and the wedge ARE MISSING. The blade wants to be just under 4-1/8\" in width.

Condition of the wood body is very good, other than some chips out at the ends of the handles as shown. There are a variety of small scratches and dings in the wood, and some discoloration in the wood where the cast iron base mates up to it.

Condition of the cast iron base is good but it is a rough casting with some casting flaws. It has some areas of rust.

Again, there is one screw with it that might be original, but it will want to be replaced, and of course the other screw is missing.

USPS POSTAGE RATE INCREASES: I use the Post Office for everything, and yes, the shipping charges just keep going up and up. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it\'s not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20\" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30\" long, because those longer packages won\'t fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights.I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.

SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including . INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I no longer ship Internationally other than Canada. If you are in Canada, ask for what the shipping would cost, but be prepared for it to be $$$$$.
