rare museum reproduction of a Haida island totem from the collection of the museum of natural history made in 1954 by legendary ALVA studios in NY. ALVA is known for their high quality reproductions of art museum pieces and were allowed to work from the original artifacts from the museum!This totem is meant to mimic the look of the original argillite stone carving and the detail and finish are unbelievable! has the distinct soft feel of the stone and even includes mother of pearl inlay eyes like the original!this is a rare piece from Alva. Almost no pictures on google and no recent sales to speak of. The ones you do find are often damaged or missing some of the mother of pearl inlay. This one looks brand new and complete inlay and even original stickers on base. it's hard to believe it's 70 years old!19.5 inches H x 5 W x 3.5 deep
