Well, my living estate sale is all about finding proper new homes for my cherished life's collection. Typically I understand what I am presenting in a listing. This time I am offering up an item I truly wish I knew more about. But, I do know it is a very special piece looking for the right new home. You are viewing a 1901 Colgate & Co. likely one-time run ad. It was placed just a couple months after the release of their New perfume Dactylis. More so it was an introduction to a new featured advertising character The Handkerchief Extract Girl. She is proudly being introduced hand in hand by the iconic Colgate Toilet Soap Boy. One of my enclosed photos shows her picture on a later bottle of Dactylis perfume. My best guess for this special full color ad's appearance is a placement in the Ladies Home Journal or possibly Cosmopolitan. As a very unique special bonus to the buyer's interest, the verso as pictured is another great special advertisement featuring the famed FAIRY SOAP from The N. K. Fairbank Company. For reference, I also included a downloaded photo from a similar Fairy Soap ad that I know ran in a 1904 Cosmopolitan magazine 3 years later. In recap: you have the high probability of a one time only specialty ad which includes Cashmere Bouquet and Colgate's famed Toilet Soap Boy introducing the newest fragrance Dactylis and the newest ad character Handkerchief Extract Girl. It is perhaps as rare of an advertisement as can be found in the great history of the Colgate & Company.
