c1950s Games for the Christmas Season Book Mixers Parties Gaiety Gifts Events Hard-to-Find Original vintage Book from circa 1950s Published by the National Recreation Association, New York Packed with a LOT of games and festivities for Christmas! The National Recreation Association was originally called the Playground Association of America (PAA), which was formed in 1906 to further theplayground movementin America. Over the years the mission of the organization shifted from playgrounds to emphasize a broad spectrum ofrecreationactivities for all ages and abilities. By the early 1910s, a distinction was being formed between the terms “play,” “relaxation,” and “recreation.”The Playground Association of Americadefined children's activities to be “play” and the term “relaxation” referred to the leisure activities of adults. “Recreation” included activities for both adults and children. Thus, when the PAA broadened their mission beyond playgrounds to include youths and adults, the name was changed to the Playground and Recreation Association of America (PRAA) to reflect the change in their name and their mission. Their focus shifted to recreation, social reforms, and civic programs. This is not a fancy book - it is typewritten, so I am sure there were not many originally made . . . I show you the Table of Contents and many examples of the text and and games. 5 ½” x 8 1/4” with 48 pgs Condition: Very Good condition . . . complete and tightly bound - - inside pages are very good - this is an ex-library book, and as was the custom, it was rebound by the library in its original covers for protection . .. there are the normal library markings – call numbers on the spine – stamp on front cover and the endpapers have a pocket, library stamps in the text and other indications. The covers are also very good with some dust soiling on the light covers . . . please review the many photos.
