This c1918 postcard features an island off \"Ragusa,\" modern day Dubrovnik in Croatia.

This postcard is quite interesting, because it marks when this island near Ragusa (now Dubrovnik), possibly Lokrum or Otok Kolocep, was once part of Austria-Hungary from 1814 - 1918. After 1918, it became its own country of Croatia. Austria was once a country that went as far south as the Adriatic Sea, which is fascinating.

At first, I thought there was an error putting Ragusa and Austria together, but they certainly were during those years. It\'s also interesting that Ragusa is no longer a term used anymore, since the area has adopted the name Dubrovnik.

This postcard with a real photo marks in history when this part of now-Croatia was a part of the Austria-Hungarian empire, and that\'s a very interesting part of history. With this, you can hold history in your hands.
