Dean Electric was formed in 1903 in Elyria, Ohio and their mainstay product was candlestick telephones right up until they changed their name to Garford Manufacturing Company in 1914. Garford was only in business two years until it was sold to Stromberg-Carlson Telephone Manufacturing Company in 1916. Apparently, as a sideline, the Dean Electric Company tried to horn into the then developing automobile market just evolving and sought to produce NON-ELECTRIC squeeze bulb horns for use in the early automobiles like the 1903-04 Curved Dash Olds, the REO etc. and then onto the early Model T Fords etc.

Dubbed the \"TALLY-O-HORN\" - this horn was an accessory item at the time, as most automobiles were produced with no horns.An amazing historical remnant and actually represents being one of the first fully documented horn systems made for automobile use. Horn measures over-all 14\" long x 7 1/2\" wide x 3\" tall in size..Made of steel, formed sheet metal and brass and painted black.With some minor scattered surface rust. .
