COMPANY FACTS: • The New York Consolidated Card Co's By 1877 the New York Consolidated Card Co's "Squeezers" were a great success on account of little indices in the corners which enabled the cards to be held in a fan, or 'squeezed'. Court rulings had decreed that any cards made with 'numerals' in the corners were a violation of their patents. The only competition came... • The New York Consolidated Card Company was formed in 1871 by the merging of three earlier firms which had flourished during the mid-19th century. These were Lawrence & Cohen (which had been founded in 1832 by Lewis I. Cohen), Samuel Hart & Co (founded c.1849 by Samuel Hart) and John J. Levy. • During the transformation of mergers, the New York Consolidated Company exploded the market creating the largest and longest running deck named Bee 92. These Angel back designs using plates made for other decks are very collectible. Decks like Gem, and others had some success but not as strong as Bee.
