Fuel Sampler Can

This sampler can is from DuPont\'s J.F. Baus Petroleum Laboratory, where it was part of their \"Octane Comparator Standard Fuel Program.\" I believe the lab was located at Deepwater Point, NJ.

It is a rare piece of DuPont petroliana history. In fact, DuPont continues to lead the way in octane-booster products. I am including (see final photo) a brochure published by DuPont in 2017 that describes their ongoing contribution to the industry.

The can is approx. 8.25\" tall x 7\" diameter.

[ CONDITION... ]

- Good vintage condition. Some paint loss. The can includes its original cap, which can be removed.

- The can has residual fuel smell, but it is quite empty. (In fact, it smells like someone was storing kerosene in it.)

- The label has some age loss. The only significant thing missing is the upper-right corner, which originally said: \"OR-9879 Rev. 5-75.\"

- The bottom of the can has a lot of oxidation. Though nearly unreadable, it appears to say \"Central Can Co. 24181 DOT 17C STC Chicago USA.\"

- I find no pinholes; however, I would not recommend storing fuel in this can. It is being sold for its historical value.

The above is my good-faith attempt to disclose all noteworthy issues. Keep in mind that vintage/antique items always show their age. (Don\'t we all!?) It would be impossible to mention every tiny detail, so please expect that there will be something about this item (or lot) that\'s not perfect and may need touch-up.
