Recent find from a prominent North Carolina estate find. Offering an amazing, what we believe is a c.1870, rosewood cigar box. Unbelievablecondition with the original working lock and key, paper lining, fitted tray and paper label which reads, "Mansfield, 90 Grafton St, Dublin." We believe the base wood is rosewood with various colored wood and mother of pearl inlay. Felt lined underside; old, but not sure this is original. Regardless, has no impact to the display value of this wonderful box. As mentioned, the lock is working; very fluid as are the hinges. No damage related issues nor any obvious repairs. If there was some restoration to this piece it was done incredibly well. Some light wear, light signs of aging and superficial scratches, but very inconsequential considering the age of this piece. We treated the wood with Vans Organic Beeswax only just to insure the wood is well hydrated. As original as you will ever find. Please see photographs for overall design, dimensions, and condition.
