About the Yao Hilltribe:The Yao hill tribe, also known as the Mien, originally hails from Southern China. In the late 1800s to early 1900s, they migrated into Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos. In Thailand, Yao communities are primarily found in Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Lampang, Chiang Mai, Phitsanulok, and Kamphaeng Phet provinces, with the largest concentration in Chiang Rai.
