Historical Cabinet Card:2 Pullman Train Porters -One Black & One WhiteFrom a recently purchased estate collection, an original cabinet card albumen photo showing 2 Pullman Porters in front of a train car. One is Black and the other is White. Based on the photo type and the rounded edges of the matte, this likely dates from the mid-1890s. After a few weeks of research I have yet to find another such early photo of a Black Pullman porter. Pullman was the leading U.S. employer of Black men in the early 1900s. I believe this to be a historically important piece of Black Americana.The image is 4.5 x 4 inches and is attached to gray matte card measuring 6\" x 5\". Albumen photo, sepia toned. No information on the back.
