The railroad stopped operating on June 15, 1933 when #8 wrecked on the mainline near Whitfield blocking the railroad.
All the locomotives were stored at the Wiscasset machine shops after the closure, behind the #3 is the boomer engine #9,
which was originally Sandy River RR #5, then Sandy River & Rangeley lakes #6, to Kennebec Central #4 in 1926 and to WW&F #9 in 1933. The #9 was saved by William Monypeny in 1937.NEW 5X8 FULL FRAME PHOTO FROM ORIGINAL 616 NEGATIVE
