William Alison \'\'Bill\'\' Anders [1933 2024] was an American United Staes Air Force major general, electrical engineer, nuclear engineer, NASA astronaut and one of the twenty-four men to go to the moon. Anders was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy in 1955 and commissioned as a fighter pilot in the United States AirForce. He was chosen to be part of NASA\'s Group 3 in 1963 and trained and flew on the historic Apollo 8 mission in 1968. Anders served as the lunar module pilot and is well remembered for taking the iconic image of the earth known as the Earthrise photograph. Sadly, at the age 90, this American hero was killed in an aircraft accident in June of 2024. Listed for sale is a [TLS] typed letter signed by William A. Anders. The letter is on the letterhead of the National Aeronautics and Space Council and dated Feb 1, 1973. The letter is a response to an invitation to an event to honor NASA and is signed \'\'William A. Anders\'\' in black felt tip pen. The letter measures 7.00 x 9.00 inches, the letter is in fine condition and will be accompanied with its original transmittal envelope. General Anders was well known for not honoring autograph requests, his autograph has always been difficult and very desirable to obtain. The autograph is authentic, signed on a desirable letterhead, signed with his full name which is rare, and the letter is ideal for display.
