This lot is a gorgeous set of the original color guides for Wetworks #14, published in 1996 by Image Comics. These are the original hand-colored guides by Image Comics Colorist and Editor Mike Rockwitz. There are 14 total color guide pages from the interior of the comic — see list below.

Color guides are typically hand colored photocopies or print-outs of the original art. They are done by the colorist and provided to the printer to ensure the integrity of the intended coloration is adhered to.

This lot contains the guides for the following interior pages:

1, 2, 3, 4-5 (double page splash), 7 (3/4 splash), 8, 10, 11 (gorgeous splash and the image that the comic’s cover was patterned after), 12, 13, 16, 17, and 18 (also a full splash page). A total of 14 pages.

Most of the pages also have notations of who did what in terms of the art. Many of the pages had layouts by Whilce Portacio and pencils by Roy Allen Martinez, and inks by Gerry Alanguilan. Others were just by Martinez and Alanguilan.

These were most likely purchased from an artist table at a convention - each page is signed, and on the back of each guide is Mike’s name and the price originally asked for each page.

Each is on heavy Bristol stock, not flimsy photocopy paper like you see on many color guides. Each page is 8.5 x 11 inches with an image size on each page of around 6 x 9.5 inches.

Color guides are a cool piece of the comic book production process and are gaining in collector popularity as original artwork becomes more and more expensive.
