Up for sale is this wonderful Wedgwood plate belonging to King George III, circa 1810.
This plate was made as part of a tea and breakfast service gifted to the King by Wedgwood to commemorate his Golden Jubilee in 1810.This Wedgwood pearlware plate is decorated with a printed stippled background, outline prints of the head of George III and garter star and badge within the garter chain, and enamelled flowers in the famille-rose style.Documented in "Wedgwood- The New Illustrated Dictionary", page 116 under Commemorative Ware (companion piece illustrated).
Approximately 8" in diameter.
Marked Wedgwood on reverse.
Most of these pieces were passed down and still in the possession of the FtizGeorge line with very few pieces known to exist outside of the family.Came from the famed Rubin Wedgwood Collection .
