RELATIVE SCARCITY OF USMC GEAR:

Only 4% of all who served during WWII were MARINES!

During World War II about 16,000,000 personnel served in the U.S. military. Approximately 11,200,000 or 70% served in the U.S. Army; 4,200,000 served in the Navy; butONLY 660,000 served in the U.S. Marine Corps.Six-hundred THOUSAND out of sixteen MILLION...but only a fraction of a fraction of the combatants in the Second World War carried this early iteration of the several USMC\'s Wire Cutter Pouch/Carriers.

In contrast to the many millions of the Army\'s M1910 Wire Cutter Pouch/Carriers, not many of these these distinctiveUSMC\'s Wire Cutter Pouch/Carriers with the USMC-specific M1912 Belt Hookswere made in the first place.

Very few of these survived the harsh rigors of the Pacific Theater, e.g. coral, salt sater, intense sunlight -- photo radiation!). ThoseFEWthat did survive the Pacific Campaigns were removed from service well before theKorean Warwhen the Marine Corps abandoned this design for the Army\'sM1910 Pouch/Carrierwhich they issued with a standardM1910 Belt Hookand\"U.S.\"printed on the front.

Solid examples of wartime\'veteran\'USMC Canteen Coversin\"Combat Serviceable\"condition are nowVERY SCARCE!!
