FIRE INTERRUPTERRemoved nearly 80 years ago from the Upper Turret of one of Kingman's B-17s, here's a very rare Limit Stop and Fire Interrupter used in Sperry A-1A and A-1B Turrets that were found in late B-17F thru most B-17G models until the very late-War introduction of the Sperry A-1C Turret (that used a slightly modified version of this unit with provisions to accommodate the new K-15 gunsight).
Packed full of Micro Switches, Gears, Cams, etc., this device is essentially the 'brain' of the Sperry Top Turret, as it controlled both the Elevation & Depression of the guns PLUS it prevented those twin fifties from shooting-off parts of the carrying Bomber.
If you plan on operating a Sperry A-1A / A-1B Upper Turret or if you simply have a keen interest in WWII and/or the USAAF, this is a must-have component - fascination guaranteed!- Excellent, used condition with dried hydraulic fluid and some Kingman dust
- Improved over the earlier version, this Interrupter used 2 cam discs that momentarily shut off each Browning INDIVIDUALLY when pointing at the protected portions of the carrying Bomber, which allowed more time firing at the target.
