Listing for a fascinating string tag from Camp O'Donnell in Capas, Tarlac, Philippines which, during WWII, was a concentration camp where thousands of Filipino and American soldiers died due to the camp's brutality. Tag is dated "November 1, 1942" in which a Memorial Service held at the site of the ex-concentration camp. This tag's original purpose is not completely known to me but it could have beenpossibly used as a secondary string, toe tag to further honor the deceased veteran. It could have been given to the family of a deceased POW as some form of identifying factor at the Memorial Service. It speaks of the prisoner in a singular sense and is serialized (000321) so this is a personal item as opposed to it being a broad "advertisement", so-to-speak, of the service as a whole..
The tag's paper material is correct to the period and it measures 5 3/4" x 3"The original sting was torn from the top of the tag and the paper material has some creases and discoloration. Please view all photos closely for your full description of condition.
