This is an original World War Two U.S. Army Air Force Republic P-47N Thunderbolt fighter aircraft typepilot attitude indicator gauge instrument. This gauge is marked AN 5736-1. It is fated 1945. This gauge is used by the pilot as an artificial horizon. It allows the pilot to keep his wings level or in a steady turn while in a cloud. The P-47Thunderbolt was a very successful AAF fighter and attack aircraft. It was later surpassed by the long range P-51 Mustang. It became a very strong ground attack aircraft.This gauge is invery good condition .It is9 x6 x6 inches. This gauge can be locked or caged by turning the big knob in the lower right corner. This gauge was used in almost every US aircraft in WW2 .
