Air Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters, American Campaign Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross. Retired with rank of Lt. Colonel.
Harry A. Sheppard, 43-E-SE, 5/28/1943 2nd Lt. 0804559 Jamaica, NYFighter pilot served in the 100th Fighter Squadron and the 332nd Fighter Interceptor Group, he flew more than 100 missions over North Africa and Europe before becoming a B-25 Bomber Pilot/Instructor.Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross. James “Jim” Verinis - Serial# O-438088: Co-pilot.The original copilot, James Verinis, flew five missions with the Memphis Belle crew then commanded his own aircraft. Capt James “Jim” Verinis flew five missions on the Memphis Belle before taking command of another B-17 called the “Connecticut Yankee.” Verinis rejoined the Memphis Belle crew for the war bond tour.Retired from the USAF with the rank of Lt. Robert Morgan - Serial# O-430609: Pilot.Born on July 31st, 1918, in Asheville, North CarolinaCaptain Robert “Bob” Morgan led the Memphis Belle crew. After the war bond tour, he volunteered for additional combat duty and flew the Boeing B-29 Superfortress \"Dauntless Dottie\" on the very first B-29 raid over Tokyo. Morgan completed 25 combat missions in B-29s by the end of the World War II.Morgan was promoted to major at a ceremony at Patterson Field (now Wright-Patterson AFB) in July 1943. Retired from the USAF with the rank of Colonel.
