This vintage Chimayo hand-loomed weaving measures 24" (with fringe) by 15". It has an attractive design woven in red, white and turquoise wools against a black background. It is in great vintage condition with no smells, stains, holes etc.

This hand woven wool textile waswoven in Chimayo, New Mexico. The early years of Chimayo weaving were roughly 1895 to 1905. The early weavers from Chimayo were Hispanic families who had been weaving for many generation. Several families living in Chimayo still continue the tradition today. They continue to weave beautiful blankets, throws, coats, purses etc. in the traditional Chimayo style on floor looms located in their shops.
