These pillow covers were popular during the 1940s when the sailors were in port and wanted to gift to send to the wife. They were also popular as tourist items. This particular one was given to my grandmother by my grandfather when he was stationed in Hawaii during the second world war.

You can see it has two spots on it on the back and one on the front but I believe that is from storage. I don't think my grandmother ever put this on a pillow.
