I am downsizing my collection of military and commercial / civil aircraft models, and am continuing to list many, as time permits.

For sale is this extremely rare and highly sought after larger desk model of the Vought XF-8U-3 Crusader III, shown in provisional U.S. Navy colors.This is a Topping model, and hand-finished, with some slight imperfections, but overall in excellent condition. The best part about this desk model is that the characteristically pointed, upward canted nose is unbroken; it is still sharp and pointy, and completely intact.This is still a delicate model that has been fortunate enough to have made it through the decades intact, and is still very pleasing to the eye and in superb display condition for the next collector.

The XF-8U-3 had a design armament of 3 semi-conformal AIM-7 Sparrow missiles, along with 4 AIM-9Sidewinder missiles carried on fuselage mounted twin pylons, each side. All missiles are intact on this model, except the one starboard side, recessed Sparrow missile, which has one broken missile fin, but is barely noticeable. There is some very light flaking to the U.S. national insignia decal on the port side of the fuselage, as well as the beginnings of some minor paint flaking on the inside of the starboard vertical fin and below the exhaust. Even though I know this is one of those models that everyone would like to touch and feel, it is one that needs to be handled carefully, and is best left alone sitting on its original factory stand for display.

I will be sure to carefully and safely wrap up and package this model and its stand for shipment, to safeguard it well during transit and delivery.As a collector, I myself care about how I want to receive the models that I pay a lot of money for, so I completely understand the need to prepare their shipment with great care, and especially this one, so it can be enjoyed by the next aviation enthusiast and collector.

Overall, this XF-8U-3Crusader III is a very rare desk model, and for those in the know, embodies some of the most exciting and pioneering times of American military aviation history. I have no doubt that this desk model will be the envy of any American aerospace & aviation buff, and generate the right kind of curiosity, comments, and enthusiasm.
