Letter signed “Voltaire”. 1 page, bifolium, 6.25 x 8.0 inch, Chateaude Ferney, Geneva 1773 April 20. Written by his secretary Jean-Louis Wagnière(1739-1802) and signed at the end by Voltaire himself. In French, in full: “MessieursJ\'ai recu la Lettre dont vous m\'avez honoré et les papiers que vous avez bienvoulu y joindre agréez mes remerciements. J\'ose compter sur les bontés et surla protection de Son Altesse Sérénissime. J\'ai l\'honneur d´être avec respect Messieursvotre très humble et très obéissant serviteur.” Translated: “Gentlemen, I havereceived the Letter with which you honored me and the papers which you kindlyattached to it, please accept my thanks. I dare to count on the kindness andprotection of his serene highness. I have the honor to be, with respect,Gentlemen, your very humble and very obedient servant.” Mailing folds, minorstain, else fine condition.
