I purchased this pen many years ago and it has been stored in my fountain pen display chest. I do not think it has ever been inked or at least not in the last 15 years. Thus, if you want to write with it, I suggest that you first use a quality fountain pen flush first to be sure everything is lubricated. This limited edition of 199 Black Visconti Ripple fountain pens is a beautiful example of Visconti\'s renowned craftsmanship. This fountain pen is serial number 029 of the series. The cap and barrel have a gorgeous mother of pearl color resin overlayed with black sterling silver in a \"ripple\" design. The \"Ripple\" is a pure design, an incredible pen from Visconti. The ripple itself is a wave such as that created by a stone falling into a pond, and usually is something invisibly surrounding us. The concept refers to the propagation of water which starts from the center and ripples everywhere to the end, which the design of this fountain pen\'s sterling silver overlay faithfully represents.

The cap of the pen is adorned with a spring loaded clip unique to the Ripple and the Visconti logo at the end of the cap. This fountain pen has a wonderful two-toned 18K gold Visconti nib, which is extra fine in size. The nib is nicely engraved with beautiful scroll work and the word “VISCONTI”. Also engraved on the nib are the following: “18K, 750, FIRENZE and EEF”.

The Visconti Ripple Fountain Pen utilizes Visconti\'s Double Reservoir piston filling system and will accept ink from a bottle or an inkwell. This large Visconti Ripple fountain pen is a little less than 6.0\" long capped, 5.5\" long uncapped and 7.5\" long posted. The Ripple is over .625\" in diameter at the widest point of its cap. This limited edition Visconti Ripple fountain pen is presented in polished wood Visconti presentation case with outer sleeve. The wood outer of the presentation case is in good condition; however, the faux leather interior is suffering from cracking due to age damage. I don’t know why this has occurred, but I have seen at least two other of these Ripple case interiors that have been offered for sale on with the same issue; thus, I can only assume that whatever material utilized for the interior does not age well. No worries with the fountain pen itself which is in perfect condition.

The original brochure includes a summation of the pen’s materials along with a reference to the serial number that is engraved on the lower resin ring of the pen barrel.

Please study the pictures for best description of the product and condition. You would be purchasing the fountain pen, original brochure, original presentation box and original outer box. The acrylic pen display stands are not included.

Only 199 of the Visconti Ripple were made with the black sterling silver overlay so these are rare finds. I did a web search and I could not find another Black Ripple currently listed for sale anywhere on the web. Go ahead and treat yourself to something extraordinarily special …
