Natural Untreated Virgin Valley Hydrophane Opal Specimen. Opal is wood replacement and this specimen has precious colors within a clear opal structure nestled inside of its petrified white opal skin.
- Opal is fresh, collect first weekend of May, 2024.- Very nice display piece showing how a core of precious opal formed inside the opal petrification of a branch.- Core displays dancing colors of mostly red and green through a semi-transparent outer surface.- The opal containing the core is a more common white variety with patterning.- Needs to be displayed in water to avoid serious cracking/crazing. Most collectors store hydrophane opals in glass jars or display bells/domes with rubber stoppers.
This opal ships inside a moist paper towel that is inside a plastic sandwich bag, further wrapped in bubble wrap, inside a padded shipping envelope.
