Little Compton is a coastal town in Newport County, Rhode Island,bounded on the south by the Atlantic Ocean, on the west by the SakonnetRiver, on the north by the town of Tiverton, and on the east by thetown of Westport Massachusetts.The population was 3,616 in 2020.

It was originally called Sakonnet and was incorporated by the PlymouthColony and was renamed Little Compton in 1682. The Sakonnet PointLighthouse is situated off the coast of Sakonnet Point in thesouthwest corner of Little Compton.The lighthouse was constructed in 1884 and was extensively restored in2012. Sakonnet Point is the town’ssouthernmost point, offering views of the Sakonnet Point Lighthouse andseveral small rocky islands, including East Island and West Island.

This is a card published by “Artvue Post Card Co.” and chronicles“The Cove, Sakonnet Point, R.I.”. The card is notpostmarked but Artvue did not start publishing to 1936. The card is in very good condition with minorwear and a clean, clear image of the harbor at Sakonnet Point. The reverse is also clean.
